... Beautiful things can happen. I am a planner. I find life to be less stressful when I have a plan. But because it is life, things can go awry. Which doesn't necessarily mean that anything has gone wrong. So when all the elements were coming together for a beautiful sunset, I grabbed my camera and headed to the beach. I made sure I was there at least an hour before the actual sunset to take advantage of the changing light. I chose my spot for the sunset image and set up. While waiting for sunset I was taking other images that caught my eye. Imagine my dismay as the few clouds quickly multiplied int a sky full of dark clouds blocking out the sun. Within minutes all plans of a great sunset image were gone. Disappointed I went home and looked through the images I had taken while waiting for sunset. Suddenly I realized I had a winning image. The light was perfect when I had turned my back on the sun and captured this image of the Olympic mountains in the fading light. When plans take a detour it can be a beautiful thing.

As always this time of year has us all looking back and reflecting on the year past and looking forward to the year before us. The end of 2017 had me offline for almost two months while I packed up and moved. At first it felt strange to be offline and to not be busy with daily online forums and communications. But now I find myself greatly refreshed and ready to take on the challenges of the year. Unplugging has great creative benefits. I don't do resolutions, but I do set goals to help me get to where I want to be. Behind the scenes I have been playing with more whimsical and artistic photographic creations. This year I will be continuing down that road. But most importantly I will be sharing my endeavors with you and looking forward to your comments and encouragement. |
