Imagine what it must be like to wake up every morning and have a view like this. Changing with the tides, the light and occasional rain cloud. Imagine views so vivid and so varied that they are indescribable. The blues form their own special rainbow, only it is in the water. And a light that can only be described as amazing. That is the view that a few people see every day. A view that I was privileged to have for a week. Because I had my camera with me you are able to bring this view into your home or office to be enjoyed every day of the week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. There is something about the ocean. The sound of waves crashing against a rocky shore or the endless view that is calming. There is so much power in the sound of the waves and yet it relaxes me. Going to sleep to the sound of waves is like someone singing me a lullaby. I know not everyone agrees with my feelings on the sound of waves. But I think we can all agree that pictures of an ocean are mesmerizing. The featured image this week was taken from the northwest side of Maui, in the Hawaiian Islands. Off to the right is the island of Molaka'i. I love the light and dark of the rain cloud as it passes overhead. With its shades of blue and gray this is a photograph that could be hung in almost any color scheme. Wouldn't it be nice to relax at the end of a hard day with this photo? I have been traveling for the past week so I have not been online very often. Sometimes you just have to unplug and enjoy life! However, you can still purchase images as usual. I might not respond to your emails and comments as quickly as I normally do, but I will respond when I can. Until I return the location remains a mystery. I can tell you that I will be near water! Last week I went to the coast to participate in the annual KelbyOne Photo Walk. I hadn't been to this little town and beach so it was all new for me. Just before leaving I saw this group playing volley ball. It seemed like an iconic Southern California beach shot so I just had to make the image. When I got home and saw what I had, well I just had to laugh. They were hitting the ball when I raised my camera. This image isn't currently in my gallery because it was taken just for fun. But if you are interested in purchasing it contact me and we will work it out. Getting outside and into my natural surroundings helps me to appreciate that perfection isn't always perfect. And to me, that is wonderful. These are moments that I treasure and don't want to forget. But as the seasons change and winter arrives it is more difficult to get out into the wild. But I have photographs to remind me. I enjoy hanging these reflective images on my walls where I can see the daily. These kind of photographs make for an inviting space to relax in. When I sit down at the end of the day I can't think of a more perfect way to relax than enjoying natures imperfect perfection. Beauty in our everyday life is something that we often overlook. But those ordinary things or moments can really give us the balance we need in this busy and chaotic world. I really enjoy the featured photograph today. That little leaf with the holes in it make me stop in my tracks when I saw it. I found it while hiking in early Autumn. Seeing the beginning of the yellow color reminds me of that day. I often wonder what caused those little holes. But even with that imperfection it continued to grow and serve its life purpose. Seems like there is a life lesson there. I think that is why I enjoy sitting and looking at this picture. Simple, imperfect, and peaceful makes it perfect for a home or office wall. Water is such an essential element to human life. We are drawn to it. Not only for our physical well being, but for our mental well being. Water helps elucidate your thinking. But like everything in life, too much can have a negative impact. Tor the water element too much can make you feel unfocused. In Feng Shui asymmetrical shapes and the color black represent water. Black? Have you ever been in water so deep that it looks black? So black is a color that can represent water. So to bring the energy of that element into play in your home you can use things with a asymmetrical shape or the color black. You can also use actual water by using a small water fountain. Artwork that shows water is also an acceptable way to bring the element into your home. Today I feel like a relaxing beach scene is exactly what is needed. If you feel this scene is right for you and would like to purchase it please contact me directly as it is not yet available in my store. A focal point should be something interesting to look at. So how do you find or create one for your room? Your room will be more inviting if it has a focal point. Sometimes it could already be created in something architectural. But if it's not built into the room then you need to create it. Look around your room. If you have a fireplace that could be your focal point. You can use the mantel to draw the eye even more. If you don't have a fireplace or another large feature you can create a focal point. Remember the focal point should be the first thing you see when you walk into the room. You can use artwork to create a focal point. You can also use creative lighting or paint to create or enhance a focal point. The color of the wall can draw your eye in. Using lighting can enhance that feature and make it stronger. Arrange your furniture to draw attention to your focal point. Keep in mind the flow of the room. If you are using artwork on a wall the featured photograph in a large size will create a beautiful focal point. The colors will go will in a room with fall colors so it is perfect for the season! |
