creating a whimsical home

I like the word whimsy. Along with its adjective whimsical, they are words that come to mind this time of year. Spring is the season of whimsy.

Do you get that whimsical feeling when spring arrives?  Whimsy can carry over into your home. Bright colors, fun patterns and different accents can all come together to create a fun and imaginative decor.  Take a deep breathe and let go of those reservations and have some fun with your decor.

It has always been my philosophy that walking into your home should be a good feeling.  By adding a touch of whimsy it will bring a smile to your face when you walk into that room.  Maybe just start small and do something imaginative to one room.

For me the thought of daffodils blowing bubbles makes me smile.  That's one of the reasons I created the featured image.  And I also bought a bottle of bubbles just for me. Why should the daffodils have all the fun?

Spring is probably one of the most welcomed of all the seasons.  The long cold darkness of winter is behind us. We open our windows and doors to the fresh air and  the sounds of birds. We feel a new energy and a renewal of spirit.  All because we have survived yet another winter!

This is the time of year when our grandmothers and great-grandmothers would have the area rugs outside to beat the dirt out of them. Today we call the carpet cleaners.  But the underlying desire is the same - Spring cleaning!

This is also the time of year when I like to switch out the photos on my walls to something lighter.  To me Daffodils just shout Spring.  I grew up surrounded by far fields of Daffodils.  There was even a parade called the Daffodil Parade where the floats were decorated with the flowers.

What does Spring mean to you?  Do you change out your decor to reflect the season?
