Everyone collects something don't they? Instead of hiding your collections away or letting them become clutter use them in your home decor. Group your items as small groupings on table tops, shelves or the mantel. Try to keep the number small and interesting. After all your goal is to draw attention to your passion. If you have a large number of items then rotate them throughout the year. For me, as a photographer and a lover of fine art, photographs and photographic art is something I collect. For me I use the walls for the larger images. The featured photos above are all scenes from Maui taken taken from the same beach on different days. Each is unique in its light and the weather, but location ties them together with a theme. What do you collect and how do you display it?

You've purchased your seascape photograph. It's framed and hanging in your living room. But something is lacking. Your room doesn't have that beach side atmosphere you were hoping to capture. Here are a couple of tips to help you give your room that seaside feeling. Pull in colors that are beach related and the colors in your photograph. Use those as your accents if you aren't planning to replace your furniture. The featured photograph gives you a wide selection to use for accent colors. You can also use candles, especially ones that are decorated with seashells. to create a tabletop accent. Texture is another thing you can use. Consider framing your photo in a wood that reminds you of driftwood. Use accents pillows that are trimmed in a braid that looks like nautical rope. Any little treasures you might have collected on your beach vacation can be added to create a layer of texture and to create your seascape decor. I love large beautiful landscape and seascape photos. They can make such a statement in the decor of a home or office setting. But what is it about a landscape or seascape image that make it work for you? The photos that you will enjoy most are the ones that you can picture yourself in. If you can do that, then you have found the perfect photo for your home. This beautiful photograph is of a lone kayaker on the ocean. Are you a kayaker? Do you want to learn how to kayak? If so, then this might be the image for your wall, because you can imagine yourself as that kayaker. But what if you love the image but don't want to see the kayaker? Then this is your lucky day because this image is also available without the kayak. Check it out here and start imagining yourself on the beach staring out at the deep blue sea. |
