does your home have soul?

The last thing you want is for your home to feel cold and impersonal, lifeless. When you walk into your home it shouldn't feel like you are walking into a motel room.

So how do you create a home with soul that reflects you?  Start by stepping back and looking at yourself and your lifestyle.  How would your closest friends and family describe you?  Your home should reflect the needs of your life and how you choose to unwind and just be you.  Your personality should shine through in your home decor.

Surround yourself with the things tat fill you with good feelings.  Accessorize your home with the same intent that you do your wardrobe.  Buy artwork that speaks to you on a personal level, not because you think it is a good investment.  Are you a casual person that likes to dress up occasionally?  Then let some of your home decor accessories reflect that dressed up side of you.

I like to go camping and hiking and I have a strong interest in plants and rocks.  In my home you will find the odd rock in my decor,  especially wishing stones.  I also have dried seed pods in places.  These are things that reflect a big part of who I am.  Of course you will also find beautiful photographs on the walls.  The soul of my home reflects my own inner soul.

When you or your friends walk into your home they should feel like they just got a hug.  That warm, welcoming feeling is a home with soul.  What does a home with soul look like to you?

Great tips. I agree.

When I lived in WA State and was doing massage work one of my clients came in for her appointment. As she was laying on my massage table she took a deep breath in... then said, "I bet your house is just like this massage room, serene, quiet, with relaxing music playing." I replied back to her, "Yes, it is."

Of course that was some time ago. I don't live there anymore. Long story short... the place I live isn't anything like my massage room used to be. Not that I don't want it to be. I'd do it in a heartbeat, if I knew I wouldn't get an earful from my father-in-law. I'd totally gut this place and redo it. I still may get a chance in the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your decor tips Cheryl! =-D

Try adding one small thing that is yours that you see first thing when you enter your home or that room. Something that makes you smile when you see it.

Have a wonderful day!
