Pantone has chosen the blending of Rose Quartz (13-1520) and Serenity (15-3919) as the Pantone Color of the Year for 2016.
According to Pantone these colors are a representation of what consumers are seeking in their lives, mindfulness and well-being. When joined together these colors show a natural balance between the warmer rose tone and the cooler tones of the blue. They bring a sense of connection, wellness and a sense of peace.
From a chromotherapy view point the lighter shade of pink that is Rose Quartz promotes relaxation and an acceptance of where you are in life. The soft shade of blue that is Serenity encourages an effective flow of peace and understanding.
Personally I am not a big fan of pink or blue. However, when I see these two colors together I feel an overwhelming sense of calmness. Maybe I will add a little Rose Quartz to my wardrobe this year. But probably not any blue, but that's just me being me.
I will be watching to see how these colors will impact design trends this year. I will also be experimenting to see how I can bring these two colors into my photography. After all, when two colors can bring about such strong feelings of wellness and peace. finding ways to incorporate them into our lives is not a bad thing. Will you be adding a touch of these colors to your home this year?
