Some days I feel like I am bombarded with negativity and disagreeable people. The news is full of horrible stories. At the end of the day I just want some peace. I want a place where I can reconnect with my sanity and become whole again. This place should be our homes.
If you are a home owner with a yard you can walk out and enjoy your garden and yard. If you don't have a yard perhaps you have a deck or patio that you have filled with plants. I have a small patio that has a lemon tree, which happens to be in bloom right now. There is where I go to restore my sanity. I retreat to the quietness of the deck and just breathe in the scent of the lemon flowers.
But we don't always have those options available to us. The next best thing is to put the garden on our walls by hanging photos of gardens that we love. Beautiful photographs of beautiful places that we can focus on and find our sanity.
If you have a family and kids running around you need this time and place to find your sanity even more. Invite your family to join you to sit and admire these places you have decorated your home with. Everyone needs time to reconnect with a sense of peace and to become sane again. We know nature has the power to heal us. There is no better place than a garden; real or in a photograph.
"Kiss of the sun for pardon. Song of the birds for mirth. You're closer to God's heart in a garden than any place else on earth." -- Dorothy Frances Gurney
